Will I still get a guaranteed income?
Yes. You’ll receive a guaranteed base of $1,600/week ($320/day), plus commission on jobs you complete. Most of our mechanics earn between $2,500–$4,000+ /week once they’re in the flow.
Are there any up front costs / franchise fees?
NO. There are no up front costs or franchisee fees. We just want great techs to share in the profit of delivering high quality mechanical services to customers.
What if there aren’t enough jobs in my area?
We do not have anyone that we do not have the data supporting the fact we can have them fully booked out.
We invest heavily in local advertising, lead generation, and repeat customers. You don’t have to chase work, we bring the bookings to you. You simply confirm your schedule and show up.
I’ve only ever worked in a workshop. Will I know what to do?
Absolutely. We provide step-by-step onboarding, ride-alongs, and full support — including quoting, invoicing, and parts sourcing. You’ll have a team behind you, systems to rely on, and ongoing help as you grow.
I don’t have a mobile van can I still join?
Yes. With Package 2, you’ll use an Auto King company vehicle and receive a $70/week fuel allowance. You can hit the road without any upfront investment in tools or transport.
Will I have to deal with customers directly?
YES. Our call centre team handles the initial customer contact, bookings, and quotes. You just focus on doing quality work and getting paid on completion.
What happens if I’m sick or need time off?
You’re in control. Just block out the days you’re unavailable and we pause your bookings. No penalty, no pressure. You choose when and how much you work.
Isn’t this riskier than staying in a steady job?
Actually, the real risk is staying stuck in a job that limits your income. With Auto King, you have both a guaranteed base and unlimited upside. You work smarter, not harder.
How do I price jobs and make profit on parts?
You have designated office manager that assists with everything. We teach you everything. From quoting properly to where to buy parts at trade rates and how to legally keep your margin you’ll be supported every step of the way.
Do I need to worry about insurance and compliance?
We’ll help you get set up with your ABN, business insurance, and basic legal structure. Our admin team will guide you through the process so you’re protected and professional.
What if I try it and it’s not for me?
There’s no long-term lock-in. Try it, test it, and if it’s not your thing, you walk away with more experience, skills, and confidence. But honestly? Most of our guys never go back.
Do I need to be fully qualified to join Auto King?
YES. We only take qualified mechanics with real-world experience. Whether you’re certified in light vehicles, diesel, or general mechanical, we want pros who can work independently and represent the brand well.
Can I do this part-time or after hours?
We need guys fulltime due to the level of work we deliver to you.
Do I need my own insurance or ABN?
Yes you’ll need an ABN and business insurance, but we help you get that sorted during onboarding. It’s quick, affordable, and part of going independent.
How soon can I start once I’m approved?
Most techs are on the road within 7–14 days of being accepted if you have all the required examiner tickets already. If you’re ready, we move fast including training, setup, and territory launch.
What kind of jobs will I be doing?
You’ll get a mix of:
- Pink slips (NSW) / Roadworthy (QLD)
- Logbook services
- Diagnostics
- Pre-purchase inspections
- Minor mechanical repairs
Jobs are pre-qualified and based on your skills and gear. We never push you to complete any work your not 100% comfortable to do.
What if a job turns out to be bigger than expected?
No problem if a job exceeds the mobile scope, you can reschedule, quote, or refer it. You’re not forced to do anything outside your limits.
Do I have to do my own advertising or quoting?
Nope. We handle the marketing, bookings, and customer contact. You show up, do the job, and submit your invoice. It’s simple and streamlined.
Can I use my own parts suppliers or tools?
Yes, if you have preferred suppliers, you’re free to use them. We’ll also recommend high-margin trade accounts that can boost your parts profit.
